Firstly - what was I thinking, my birthday and completely forgot to take photos. Sorry! What a beauti-ful old place. It is a petit boutique hotel and they do a fabulous High Tea. Fabulous HT - surroundings, food and great tea. Lovely place and the ladies, owner and chef were so very kind and attentive. Kick-ing myself for not taking photos.
Dining room small but looks out on beautiful little garden. On the sideboard there are several teapots with great teapot cosies, again what was I thinking, not taking photos - next time. China is Villeroy Boch, beautiful. Earl Grey was delicious. Tea stand, three tiers. One scone each (more than enough for me) with homemade strawberry jam, crammed with strawberries. Chocolate fudge, then next tier had Profiterole filled with strawberries and cream, little lemon and blueberry dainty and final tier had pas-sion fruit and orange cakes. Savoury on separate plate was homemade sausage rolls (everything made in-house) with homemade chutney and smoked salmon with cream cheese sandwiches. Sooo nice, I could have eaten all the sausage rolls all to myself!
Not huge serving but more than enough and not overpowering. I hate going for a High Tea and cannot eat it all or enjoy it if size of what is served is huge - dainty is good. Loved it. Will go back again. Normally, they do for High Tea for 6 but they did it for 3 as my birthday. Do not think it would be problem if wanted to go for say 2.
Beautiful wood panelling, high ceilings, real china, great food and ambiance, just what you need to make an outing special.
