Named after Lake Alexandra a man made lake built some 140 years ago to supply water for steam engines hauling coal to the Fitzroy Iron Mines. Today the Lake is surrounded by 2000 hectares of native Reserve with several walking tracks, an abundance of birdlife and tranquil parklands.
This room is to the side of the building facing East overlooking Mount Alexandra and the Old Bank courtyard. Originally part of the bank managers’ private quarters this room most likely was either occupied by the Bank Manager’s children or nanny/housekeeper.1890’s to 1970’s.
